In all, students used digital tools to work in groups and present information individually. Students have worked in groups and created a digital timeline of how reading was taught to them in and outside of school. They have researched the meaning of literacy, the development of literacy, and have learned the reasons why it is important to increase their own literacy levels. Students created a powerpoint with research on literacy to cement to their peers the importance of reading and writing. In working with groups and giving each other feedback on individual presentations, students have had an interactive classroom experience where they lean on their peers for extra input. Students have written a reflection on the IBL lesson, and have reviewed what new knowledge that they have gained over the past week. Students will take away the importance of literacy in schooling and be able to apply this knowledge to their lives outside of school to further their literacy skills.
